Doing the same old thing day in day out doesn’t leave much for your child to feel inquisitive about. With that said, try and mix things up once in a while to provoke curious thoughts. It could be something as simple as introducing a new recipe at dinner or visiting a different town at the weekend.
Read to Them
Reading is fantastic for children for many reasons, and it also sparks their curiosity. This is because books will introduce them to new ideas and concepts that they don’t experience at home. For instance, the character in the book might have different religious beliefs to your child or live in a different time or place.
Encourage Hobbies
Your child is far more likely to be curious about things if they have an active interest in it. So, encourage them to pursue their hobbies to help them expand their knowledge and develop new skills. For instance, if they have demonstrated an interest in space and often ask questions about it, perhaps you could buy them a telescope for their birthday.
Be Inquisitive
One of the best ways to encourage your child to be inquisitive is to be inquisitive yourself. Think allowed and ask questions of your own to show your child that it’s perfectly normal. For instance, you could say things like “I wonder where this banana was grown?” or “If you could have any superpower, what would it be?”. As well as showing your child that there’s nothing wrong with being inquisitive, you will also encourage them to think outside the box and consider things that might not have crossed their minds otherwise.
