Although there are ways that you can sell your house on your own, the chances are you’re going to want to work with an estate agent to sell your house efficiently. The good news is that there are plenty of estate agents to choose from, so finding someone to help shouldn’t be a struggle. But with so many out there, how do you choose an estate agent?
What Do They Value Your House At?
It is a good idea to get a couple of estate agents to give you a house valuation before you make any decisions. Not only does this give you a firm idea of what your property is worth but it also means that you can see who is likely to overvalue, and therefore could underdeliver. It can be tempted to go with the estate agent that promises to sell your house for the most money – but remember that this isn’t a guarantee so they could be over-promising just to get your custom.
What Services Do They Offer?
Once you have narrowed down your list it is worth looking at what services they offer – not just in terms of what you can benefit from, but what are they charging for you that you may not need? Lots of estate agents now have different packages where you can save money if you conduct your own viewings or take your own photos for example, so just make sure that you explore all the options open to you.
How Have They Performed Previously?
The likes of Rightmove make it easy for you to be able to see how many properties an agency has for sale and also many are sold subject to contract – and how many they have sold. This gives you an idea of whether they can walk the walk rather than simply talk the talk.
If you have an idea of what you would look at when it comes to how to choose an estate agent then we’d love to know your thoughts.
