Whether or not you’re a fan of robots, there is no denying that AI is coming more commonplace and in many cases, changing our lives for the better. Most of us now are used to having various smart devices in our homes, so I wonder if in the future it will be commonplace to have a robot helping around the house too?
AI in Business
Businesses of all shapes and sizes are already making use of AI and realistically this is a trend that is likely to grow in the future. Advances in technology mean that it is now possible for machines to do some jobs that people used to do previously; great for jobs where people may have been put at risk. Of course, the industry you are in will affect what help AI can give you but if you look into it whatever business you’re in there is likely to be something to help. There are even pieces of software that will write blog posts for you now; there really is so much robots and AI can do to help us out.
Improving Business
A big part of most businesses, especially those within manufacturing is quality control. No one wants to send out substandard products to customers; not only does it mean potentially lots of unhappy people, but also it can be dangerous in industries such as food and drink. Not only does this help to streamline the production process, but unlike people, machines don’t get tired or sick which means that they can often work quicker than if someone was manually carrying out these checks.
Are Robots Taking Over?
It can be easy to assume that AI and robots will start to take over from jobs that people might want to do, and in some cases that is true. However, we’ll adapt and change, there will always be a need for people and human intervention. However, one of the great things about robots is that they will always have a steady hand and never get nervous so they can often step in to do jobs that someone might not be able to do – even simple things like lifting objects much heavier than we are able to handle.
As you might imagine, there are mixed opinions on the use of AI in the workplace and whether replacing people with machines is the way forward. However, the way to look at it is that businesses can offer more cost-effective and efficient ways of working; which from a business owners point of view can only be a good thing. In my opinion, there will always be a need for us to be involved, even if that need changes and adapts which is only natural as technology progresses.
