When it comes to working hours being a freelancer is the ultimate choice for many. However, what is important to remember is that although you can often pick and choose what projects you work on, or what hours you work if you don’t work you don’t get paid, so here are some tips for staying motivated as a freelancer.
Get Into a Routine
Getting into a routine is a good idea if you want to stay motivated. Working roughly the same hours each day and sticking to a routine within the hours really helps. Of course, depending on the industry you are in this can be tougher to do. But where possible, if you are working from home or in a shared workspace try to dedicate the same core hours each day to getting things done.
Track Everything
Track everything that you do, so you know what you are spending and what money is coming in. Money is a great motivator so if you can see that the hard work you are putting in is paying off then you are much more likely to stay that motivated moving forward.
Set Minimum Levels
Make sure you have an idea of what it costs to keep your business ticking over and what it costs you to live. That way you know the minimum amount of work yo can accept each week/month and this can sometimes be enough of a kick to keep you going.
Celebrate Your Growth
Starting your own business and working freelancer isn’t an easy step and one that you’ll need to dedicate plenty of time and attention to. Make sure that you recognise any business growth and achievements that you have had and celebrate this success. Celebrating your achievements cements these in your mind and helps you to realise that the hard work you are putting in are paying off.
