Well, we’re pretty much through the first week of 2022 – how has yours been? Ours has been okay, pretty quiet and just doing our best to get back into some sort of routine! This week has been a bit broken up as I am sure it has been for many, maybe next week will feel better? We know that January can feel dark and cold so here are some ideas on how to make your January a little brighter.

Socialise

One of the things that makes January hard is that we’re often feeling the financial pinch of Christmas and we feel a bit like we have had our social quota for the time being, but staying at home on your own can be pretty miserable. Rather than lock yourself away make a conscious effort to keep in touch with friends – even if that is via video call, phone call or just a quick visit for a cup of tea. Seeing and spending time with our loved ones doesn’t always have to be an extravagant and expensive affair but it can do wonders for how we are feeling.

Get Some Sunlight

It might seem like we’re pushing it to say get some sunlight, but being out and about in natural light can help us to feel good. This might simply be a stand in the garden for a few minutes or a quick stroll around the block. Whatever you feel up to, do what you can to get outside in the fresh air and natural light for a much-needed boost this January.

Try New Foods

If you’re feeling the pinch then this can really help too! Go through your cupboards and have a good sort out of everything that you have – we all have things we have bought and haven’t got around to cooking. Then get online look up some recipes that include these ingredients and get creative. It’s a way to declutter the kitchen, try something new, save money and eat lovely food, what’s not to like?

If you have any ideas on how you make your January a little brighter we’d love you to share them below
