Heating our homes is a topic that is on many of our lips and as winter approaches it isn’t likely to go away anytime. With the energy price cap on the increase, many people are worried about the cost of heating and how they’re going to keep their families warm this winter. If you have a home extension that you might be worried about how you are going to heat this extra space in your home – here are some tips.

Underfloor Heating

This might not be something that you can easily install now, but if you are considering a home extension in the future then underfloor heating is certainly something to give thought to. Underfloor heating is a great way to gently heat a room as well as avoiding that freezing cold feeling that our feet often experience when the cold weather is here – and that is a great feeling!

Radiators

Radiators aren’t always added to home extensions but really they should be because they’re a great way to ensure a room is heated efficiently. It could be worth considering some sort of HIVE or heating control system which means that you can turn on and off radiators in your home extension and throughout the rest of your home using your phone. This is a great way of avoiding heating rooms that aren’t being used because you can use the app to switch off radiators in any empty rooms.

Accessories

Depending on the room you have had extended, you can get several accessories that can help towards heating a room – towel rails in a bathroom for example.

Being Sensible

Realistically heating your home extension isn’t any different to the rest of your home and a lot of it is about being sensible. For example, why not spend some time now making sure everything is draught free so you can have any repairs you need doing done now before winter kicks in. Fluffy rugs, cushions and blankets all add to the cosiness of a room – even in somewhere like a conservatory where you can have these available for guests to use if they need to as well

Whether you already have a home extension or you’re considering one, the best thing you can do is speak to an expert for advice on how to go about heating your home extension in the most effective way.
