The world has changed since Covid-19 hit. One of the key changes for all professionals is the need and want to now work from home more than ever. However, this means somewhere to work! Working on your bed or on the sofa is not sustainable, neither is it a great working environment to be productive. So if you’re looking to create your own office within the comfort of your home, then follow the below five steps.
Positioning Of Your Desk
First and foremost, you need to find an area for your desk set up. This needs to be somewhere out of the way and away from any distractions. Preferably, the area needs to be light and bright, near a window for exposure to natural daylight and have enough space for movement.
Find That Comfy Chair
Once you know where your desk will be, make sure you invest in a comfortable chair. After all, more than likely you will be sitting here for eight hours a day. Sitting on an uncomfortable chair can create many issues for your health, including backache and poor posture. Not only will it harm your physical condition, but you will not be able to concentrate if you’re constantly in pain and fidgeting in your seat.
Use The Correct Equipment
In order for you to be able to start working in the morning, you will require your equipment. What do you need to get the job done? A laptop? A computer? A printer? These may be the first things you think of but remember the smaller objects as well. You may also want a monitor stand or a wrist support for your mouse. All of these factors contribute to a great working environment. A big tip: Don’t forget your stationary!
Style It And Add Decor
Nobody wants to be sat at a boring and bland desk all day. Add some of your personality and make it your happy place! Hang some pictures on the wall next to the desk, some colourful pencil pots and nice pot plants to make the area stand out and beautiful.
Consider your backdrop!
Something not to forget is the surroundings of your desk. The area you may sit may be fabulous but the background may not be. Zoom meetings are a huge factor in working from home in order to stay connected to colleagues. So make sure the background in your camera shot isn’t cluttered and unsightly for all to see!
