Although it is likely that when buying a house we think about our needs extensively and what our future needs might be, it simply isn’t possible to plan for all eventualities. Not only do things change but sometimes the budget simply doesn’t allow for us to buy a house bigger than we need now, just in case we might need more space in the future. However, that doesn’t mean that you should give up on having all the space you need in your home – a loft conversion could be just what you are looking for.

Extra Space
It goes without saying that the main benefit of a loft extension is that you gain extra space in your home. However, it is worth keeping in mind that this is simply by making effective use of the space you already have, rather than building anything extra onto your home. Although many lofts are used for storage, they tend to become a dumping ground for items that we don’t really need but can’t bear to throw away. A loft extension gives you a way to make use of this space in a way that everyone in the household can benefit from.

An Extra Level
As well as extra space, it adds an extra floor to the home – great for a room where you would like to be away from the hustle and bustle of the rest of the home. For example, if you want a home office but you’re worried about the noise when everyone else is home then a loft extension gives you the ideal opportunity to have an office without noise!
Multi Functioning Rooms
What many people don’t realise is that it is perfectly possible to change a loft into a multi-functioning room. Many people assume that a loft can be converted into a bedroom or a home office for example, but why not both? If you speak to an expert loft conversion company about your needs they’ll usually be able to recommend a way to convert the room and a layout that will tick as many of your boxes as possible.
Cost-Effective
It is all well and good recognising that we need to upsize and that our home is no longer big enough for our needs, but having the budget to make this happen can be tough – after all, moving home is expensive! Whilst a loft conversion isn’t free, it is usually much more cost-effective than having to up sticks and move home – and can even add to the value of your home!
If you have had a loft extension, we’d love to hear about your experiences.
